The holiday seasons are just around the corner, and tensions can be high when it's time to reconnect or not reconnect with loved ones. I was craving something to decrease my stress about going back home for the holidays. I live in a studio apartment with a friend, share a bunk bed, and pay an outrageous amount in rent. Sometimes, the quality of life in a big city can be bad if you're not making a ton of money (which I'm not). And with the housing crisis, the lack of privacy, not to mention the cost, I'm constantly looking for ways to relax and take a moment to myself in this stressful world! When my roommate came back from class one day, absolutely exhausted (she works at Starbucks and wakes up at the devil's hour), she had an array of art supplies she dumped on the table and she started getting to work. My curiosity peaked when she took out this plain looking box with this weird flesh colored material inside. She started applying this clay-like material to a tin foil sculpture she had created in class. I realized after some time, that she was creating the cutest and bulkiest bear-ista (a barista that's a bear!) Fitting for her job of course. I asked since I've never seen the stuff before if I could work on her sculpture a little (also she totally needed a nap!). Reluctantly, and nervously she said yes, and before I knew it I had forgotten all my stresses and worries as I started shaping and constructing this caffeine-loving bear. I entered this peaceful bliss and before I knew it we had made a ton of progress. Days later she finishes the stuff and lucky me, she gives me all of her leftover materials. By making my own creations I had hit a level of relaxation In addition to the pure tension ease that this product provides, it is the best sculpture material I've ever used. Usually, when you're sculpting, it's with clay and other messy materials. Super Sculpey never dries out and always retains it's shape. You can create dynamic shapes using armature wire and tin foil, and you can even paint them with oils, or acrylics to make something other-worldly. Super Sculpey fulfills all those requirements. I absolutely recommend if you're looking for something clean, fun, and relatively cheap buy a box of this $20 putty to make, bake, and paint some of the coolest art projects. If you're not happy with what you made just destroy it and use the same putty for your next creation. You can buy the junk online here, or call to your local art store to see if they have it in stock! Happy sculpting everyone!
